CALL for Proposals for Installations in Wells Cathedral

The Wells Art Contemporary Open will be held at the magnificent Wells Cathedral between July 20th and August 11th 2019. Footfall is likely to be in the order of 20,000+. For the first time we are offering a remarkable opportunity for proposals for fine art interventions, installed in up to 8 specific sites within the Cathedral. Individual or collaborative proposals can be made.

The selectors will be looking for cutting edge proposals, which engage the audience in a range of experiences. Links with the Cathedral’s very long sacred history, its material fabric or its current day usage are encouraged. This intervention could be via sound, light, performance, projection and site specific work in any media.

There is no size restriction and the installations can be in any media.

You may make proposals for one or more of the 8 possible sites.

The following sites within the Cathedral can be considered:

  1. Display Space opposite Lady Chapel
  2. Corpus Christi Chapel
  3. The Chapter House
  4. The Chapter House steps
  5. Outside the door to the stairs
  6. The Library
  7. Entrance to North West Tower Chapel
  8. Cloisters
